CEO – AADF International
When I think of our organization AADF, perhaps everyone would ask the question of how to succeed. Yes indeed, it is the right question that needs to be asked at this time. From my point of view, I would like to bring your attention to a great quote by Heny Ford (Founder of Ford Company), I quote “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” I can see that the ultimate success of our organization, AADF, can be found within this quote.
“Coming Together is the Beginning.” I would call this the common purpose phase. We all have common purposes here; we all want to see the people and community we came from to be flourished and developed; we all wish and pray for the betterment of the life of the people of Arbagugu-Abomsa region. That’s what brings us together. Therefore, we all are on the same boat traveling to common destination. Thanks for our friends, who took this initiative, we organized ourselves on social media: viber, group website, teleconference, Facebook and so on. Therefore, according to the quote, we are on the right track but the beginning of the journey. The purpose of the group website (http://www.Abomsa.org) is also to establish a common forum to brings us together. Being a member by signing up on the website is an important step for AADF to go forward. Therefore, let us push our AADF accelerate forward, first registering by ourselves and encourage others to register. This is a very important step. We need to know each other; we need to know the human power we have; we need to know who can do what? Imagine, as members we are collectively the engine of AADF. The more members we have, the strongest AADF would be, so that it can sustain until we achieve our vision.
Once we’ve assembled (or inherited) ourselves and came together for a common purpose, the question is, How do we sustain it? We move to become actual teams and ask, How do we fuel this high-level organization performance? This takes us to the second part of Henry Ford’s quote.
“Keeping Together is Progress.” This is the mutual commitment phase. We can create a team spirit so our people have a sense of belonging. We can give people status and even self-esteem within our teams. But how long will it last?
Being successful comes from working together and eventually winning the game as champion. The question is, How do we hold the TEAM together to achieve the championship ahead of us? To mention some points among many others:
1) Stay in touch as a group and support each other in the TEAM before we extend our hand to others – Make ourselves available to team members during the bad and good times.
2) Don’t over-promise people at the beginning which may eventually hard to bring on the ground – If we fail to provide what we promised to do, then our paycheck will be dishonest. Especially for team leader need to work hard in providing information to the members accurately. – No more no less
3) Commitment – We all know that life is busy in this world. But we have to devote our time for this work. The responsibility should not be loaded on few friends’ shoulder, rather we need to share and work together as a team. Ants are a remarkable example of working together. Each tiny ant labors diligently in constructing its colony. One ant makes a big difference. If one out of the hundreds of ants goes missing, his specific job or area is ignored, creating chaos in the construction of the colony’s tunnels.
4) Trust among ourselves – To sustain our teams, we have to believe in ourselves and in our organization. Stay the course and continue to remind your team of their mutual commitment to each other. And no matter the trials and tribulations, don’t let go!
5) Make sure our base decisions on the right information – particularly the team leaders need to assess and evaluate the available information before making decision.
